Experienced

Mark has dedicated his actions and heart to education and youth for more than 35 years. Whether youth sports, child abuse prevention, County and State PTA, anti gang efforts, reporting on education, or any of his other experience, Mark has proven, and continues to prove, kids come first.

Not only does Mark have the professional experience, he has plenty of personal experience as well. Watching his own two children graduate SLCUSD schools, and currently watching his grandson attend an SLCUSD elementary school, Mark has first hand experience with how our schools have, and continue to, evolve from good to great.

Trusted

Mark is and has been a respected leader in our schools, but our community as well. From collaborating with parents as a County PTA President, to fighting alongside community activists, to owning his own education focused business, to addressing community crises and needs. Mark has fought alongside our community members, for our community, for years. Our community members trust Mark.

Focus

Mark is intent on : Student and staff safety, making climate conscious decisions, local jobs for local grads, improved learning for all, all while watching budget details

Open-Minded

Mark believes that we need to build on the success of  schools. Our school board makes the decisions that fund and oversee those improvements. As a board  member he has proposed innovative ideas. Adding Arts to STEM. Looking outside the box. But being on a board takes collaboration. It takes working on a team. It takes trusting the folks closest to the kids —teachers and staff. Giving them the tools they need. Now Mark is pushing, student and staff safety, making climate conscious decisions, local jobs for local grads, improved learning for all while watching the budget details.

He is persistent and uses his broad experience to work for students across the grade levels. He seeks and believes in the power of input and discussion with parents, staff, students, and community. He wants your input – always.
